to quote Helen Ashe from The Love Kitchen, “there is but one race, and that’s the human race.”
although we may be separated from Japan by an entire ocean, our friends at ever ours and utterly engaged have put together a way for us all to help Shelterbox help our Japanese brothers and sisters that are in need.

There are two parts to it.
1) Fundraising:
For Japan With Love has a direct link on the website to our fundraising page for ShelterBox.
ShelterBox was one of THE first organizations asked by Japan to help. They arrived on the Saturday after the quake. Each large, green ShelterBox is tailored to a disaster but typically contains a disaster relief tent for an extended family, blankets, water storage and purification equipment, cooking utensils, a stove, a basic tool kit, a children’s activity pack and other vital items.
Please check it out and whatever you can contribute will be so appreciated.
—
2) Bloggers Day of Silence:
Anyone that has a blog can help out with this one.
The aim is to just raise awareness and respect and acknowledge the devastation going on in Japan.
-
If you’d like to join in, please grab the flyer above and either of the badges below and feel free to use them in your post.
The guidelines are simple.
1. This coming Friday, March 18th, no posts at all on your blog.
2. Please post a blog post about what you will be doing this Friday whenever possible in hopes to spread the word and whoever else would like to join in.
3. Tweet and Re-Tweet the shiznit out of the link to http://www.forjapanwithlove.com please.
4. Encourage your readers and other bloggers to join in on this, contribute, and donate love and shelter to Japan.
—
Please don’t think that a small donation won’t make a difference because right now there are lots of people out there that have absolutely nothing.
Anything you can contribute will be appreciated.
Every little bit helps. Any impact we can make will be awesome.
As seen in this unreal photo from boston.com, this is not something that’s just going to go away in a week, or a month, or even a year.
—
We’re just getting started and there’s a long way to go.

there are lots of other great ways to help. here are just a few:
click over to shelterbox , the red cross , or soles4souls
or simply text REDCROSS to 90999 to donate $10 to Japan earthquake and Pacific tsunami relief.
tomorrow, we’ll be gathering up all of the shoes we can and dropping them off at Sport Chalet so they can get them into the hands of the good people at Soles4Souls.
