San Diego wedding photographers in New York City

what’s up everyone! one more big apple post before we head out to the empire state for thu + jason’s wedding in rochester new york, jenn + ben’s portrait session in buffalo, jaymie’s ohana session in ct, and maybe, just maybe, some other fun stuff in between.

here’s a handful of shots from nyc that kim and i took during our 7,000 mile cross country road trip last year after shooting the crazy hot whitney + man’s wedding in rochester. we’d been in brooklyn just one week before for marcella + cameron’s wedding at the brooklyn botanic garden but we didn’t get to really explore because we were only there for 2 days and left literally right after their wedding to get back on a plane to san diego for melissa + nate’s wedding the next day, then started our road trip back to new york the day after that. that’s how we roll, following our couples back and forth across the country like a psycho ex. ha!

it’ll be a chilly day in hell before we go from west to east and back to west coast in one weekend again.

that said, once we get back from this new york trip we’ll be headed WAY west to HAWAII!!! and it don’t stop, and it don’t quit, ohana on the move cold runnin sh…

so until we meet again.   aloha!

rain tried out the capery at the brooklyn superhero supply co. at 372 5th Ave, Brooklyn, NY.

if you haven’t been there, you need to check it out. not only is the store generally rad, all of their sales go directly to support the free writing and tutoring programs at 826NYC.

what is 826NYC?

826NYC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting students ages 6-18 with their creative and expository writing skills, and to helping teachers inspire their students to write. their services are structured around the belief that great leaps in learning can happen with one-on-one attention and that strong writing skills are fundamental to future success. with this in mind they provide drop-in tutoring, field trips, after-school workshops, in-schools tutoring, help for english language learners, and assistance with student publications. all of their free programs are challenging and enjoyable, and ultimately strengthen each student’s power to express ideas effectively, creatively, confidently, and in his or her individual voice.

notice all the empty trash cans on the beach at coney island? it’s not because they just got dumped.

the trash never made it that far. the cool nostalgic vision of coney island i had in my mind since i was a kid watching bugs bunny was shattered within a few minutes of walking on the sand. so sad.

walking around by wall street at night was pretty cool. this place is a mad house during the day and almost like small town america at night.

one of the VERY few free things we found to do in new york was to take a trip on the staten island ferry. it was a good way to relax for a bit after walking around manhattan all day, plus, we went right by the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. it was pretty awesome to see them in-person for the first time. history is so much better when you can see it right in front of you, instead of just in a book or on a computer.

the most important thing we learned on this trip is that we should all get out more. shut down your computer and go see America or whatever country you live in. take a week or two and just go drive around with your family, friends, and camera. there’s a lot of really cool stuff out there.
